How Does FUNAAB Calculate Points for UTME Candidates

The Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB) adopts a Composite Grading System for the evaluation of candidates seeking admission into the University. The composite score is derived from the candidate's O'Level results and UTME score, based on a ratio of 50:50 respectively.

1. O'LEVEL COMPOSITE PERCENTAGE

O'Level points are calculated from five (5) core subjects as outlined below:

Programme  Required Subjects
Core Sciences English Language, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology
Management Science English Language, Mathematics, Economics, and the best 2 relevant subjects

Grading Scale:

Grade Points
A1 6
B2 5
B3 4
C4 3
C5 2
C6 1
Others 0

Maximum Total O'Level Points = 30 points

Important Notes:

  • Where Agriculture is accepted in lieu of Biology, the grade obtained in Agriculture shall not count towards O'Level points.
  • Candidates presenting two O'Level results (e.g., WAEC and NECO) shall have the better grade selected for each core subject. However, 1 (one) point shall be deducted from the total points so obtained.

Formula: O'Level Composite (%) = Total O'Level Points × (5/3)

2. UTME COMPOSITE PERCENTAGE

This applies to candidates applying through the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) route.

Formula: UTME Composite (%) = UTME Score ÷ 8

FINAL COMPOSITE SCORE = O'Level Composite (%) + UTME Composite (%)

SUMMARY OF COMPOSITE COMPONENTS

Component Formula Maximum Value
O'Level Total Points × (5/3) 50%
UTME Score ÷ 8 50%
Total Sum of both components 100%
